Immunohematology

Immunohematology is a cross-sectional area between immunology , hematology and transfusion medicine that deals with antigen - antibody reactions from and against blood components, such as B. erythrocytes , leukocytes and platelets , as well as dealing with the diseases caused by these immunological reactions.

This subject area includes e.g. B. Tasks of blood group typing and identification of antibodies that are formed against foreign antigens, for example after blood transfusions and pregnancies , or through autoimmunity against endogenous antigens.
