Imre Szittya
Imre Szittya (born February 11, 1956 in Budapest / Hungary ) is a basketball coach and was the head coach of the German national women's basketball team from 2007 to 2010 .
Study and job
Szittya graduated from high school in 1973 and studied to be a sports and geography teacher from 1974 to 1978 in Pécs / Hungary and at the University of Physical Culture in Budapest from 1981 to 1983 to become a qualified sports teacher and until 1987 a qualified basketball coach.
Basketball career
After coaching positions in youth teams, Szittya took on the position of assistant coach for the Hungarian national cadet team from 1983 to 1985. From 1985 to 1986 he worked as an assistant coach at the Hungarian men's first division club Tungsgram Budapest. He had his first head coach position from 1987 to 1988 at VSC Dombóvár in the second Hungarian men's league. From 1988 to 1990 Szittya worked as a physical education teacher at the Janus Pannonius High School in Pécs. At the same time he worked as assistant coach of the Hungarian women's national team.
In 1990 Szittya moved to Nördlingen and worked as head coach at TSV Nördlingen in the first and second women's basketball league until 2002 . From 2001 to 2006 he was an association trainer in the Bavarian Basketball Association.
From 2003 to 2006 he was co-trainer of the German national women's basketball team under Olaf Stolz and took over the post of head coach of the German national women's basketball team from the beginning of 2007.
In November 2010, Imre Szittya resigned as national coach of the senior national team of the German national women's basketball team for personal reasons. In 2015 he was able to keep the class with the female U16 national team at the A-EM in Portugal with a 9th place.
Szittya has been a state trainer in the Bavarian Basketball Association (BBV) for years.
Personal
Szittya is married and has two children. His daughter Fanny Szittya was a first division player in Nördlingen with the BG Donau-Ries .
