Imrich Barta

Imrich Barta (born 1925 in Šamorín ; died 1999 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak painter and architect of Greek descent.

He created many oil paintings in the style of Vincent van Gogh and also worked as an architect. During his career he restored many churches in Bratislava and became the main architect of the project to build a new part in Bratislava, which is now called Petržalka ; However, his project was stopped by the communist Czechoslovak government because of its probable costs and another, cheaper, realized. The government did the same with Barta's modern project, which included a new part of Bratislava city center near the Danube. It wasn't until 2010 that a similar project known as Eurovea was completed. Barta was one of the architects who designed the Ružová Dolina district in Bratislava , which was built between 1959 and 1963 .
