Around the world in 80 days is a puppet cartoon from 1972 based on the novel Journey around the earth in 80 days by the writer Jules Verne (1828–1905) published in 1873 .

The film was shown in the evening program as part of the western edition of the Sandman . The story is told in 15 episodes of four or five episodes each; in total, the story is divided into 70 episodes. The animated film is quite elaborate and detailed, the narration and dialogues are spoken by an off- screen narrator .

action

The plot follows the novel very closely, but is relatively simplified because of the children as the target audience; the civilization and social criticism contained in Jules Verne's novel is of course not an issue here, rather the plot is told as an exciting fairy tale with the usual stereotypes (hero, friend, princess, villain).
