In Body Image Stabilization

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) is a technical method of protection against camera shake in digital camera systems.

The stabilization of the image can either be implemented in the camera housing (body) or in the lens . With in-body image stabilization , image stabilization is completely guaranteed in the camera housing. The evaluation of the sensors and the stabilization process affecting the image is carried out by the microprocessor in the camera. The lens system of the objective has no part in the stabilization process and therefore does not require any technical equipment.

This makes the lens lighter and cheaper. Older and manual lenses also do not have stabilizing devices and thus benefit from them retrospectively.

Stabilization is often dispensed with when using short focal lengths or a tripod , so it can be deactivated.
