In These Times is a progressive monthly magazine based in the United States . She appears in Chicago .
The founder, the historian and journalist James Weinstein , wanted to "identify and clearly emphasize the increasing struggles against the power of large companies in the USA". The founding supporters included Daniel Ellsberg , EP Thompson , Noam Chomsky , Barbara Ehrenreich , Julian Bond and Herbert Marcuse . The magazine claims to have women, people of color , and workers as sources of information, topics and target groups. In addition to political issues, she also has a feature section and publishes fiction; her authors include Alice Walker and Kurt Vonnegut . It was first published every two weeks, since 2006 monthly.
The reporter Silja JA Talvi received the national prize of the aid organization “National Council on Crime and Delinquency” several times from 2005 to 2007 for reports that were first published by In These Times. In 2006 the newspaper received the Utne Independent Press Award for its political reporting.
