Bernd Tipold

Bernd Tipold (born July 31, 1959 ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Athletic career

Tipold's career began in the Karl-Marx-Städter district of Altendorf with the local company sports association Motor. Later on, the talented footballer was also on the ball in the youth division of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt , BSG Motor "Fritz Heckert" Karl-Marx-Stadt and until the summer of 1982 at BSG Motor Eisenach .

From 1982 to 1984 Tipold played at BSG Wismut Gera in the GDR league in the midfield. Before the 1984/85 season he switched back to Motor "Fritz Heckert" Karl-Marx-Stadt. As an established player from the former GDR second division football, the defensive force went to the then third-class FSV Zwickau in 1991 after the establishment of an all-German league system . With the FSV under Gerd Schädlich , “Tipser” achieved his greatest sporting success in 1994 when he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . In 1997 he ended his playing career.

During his time at FSV, he played 179 point games and scored 35 goals. His 40-meter free-kick goal against Saarbrücken was voted Goal of the Month in 1994.

Coaching career

During the 2002/03 season, in November 2002, Tipold replaced the FSV assistant coach Klaus Georgi , who had left at his own request . For the 2003/04 season Tipold was coach of FSV Zwickau, but after a series of defeats he had to vacate his post in March 2004. His successor was Peter Brändel .

Further career

Tipold now runs a football school in Hohenstein-Ernstthal .
