Ina Schabert

Ina Schabert (* 1940 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German English scholar and professor emeritus for English literary studies.

life and work

Ina Schabert worked at the University of Munich after taking the state examination for English and French in 1966 and received her doctorate in 1969 with a thesis on Michael Drayton . She received her license to teach in 1974 and was appointed professor for English literature at the LMU Munich in 1980. She was Vice President of the University of Munich from 1987 to 1989, was a member and spokeswoman for the graduate school "Gender Difference and Literature" for several years, and from 2000 to 2006 she was the editor of the Shakespeare Yearbook . In 2006 she retired. She was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit and the Bavarian Order of Merit for her work .

In addition to the work of William Shakespeare, her main research interests are the literature of the Renaissance and literary historical gender studies.
