The Inaccessible Cliffs ( English for inaccessible cliffs ) are a series of steep cliffs interrupted by several glaciers in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . They form the northern step of the Queen Elizabeth Range and tower on the southern flank of the Nimrod Glacier .
The northern group of a campaign carried out from 1961 to 1962 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1961–1962) named them so because the glacier, which is very rugged at this point, prevents access to the cliffs.
