Indonesian Aerospace N219 is a multipurpose aircraft produced by the Indonesian manufacturer PT. Dirgantara Indonesia . It is powered by two turboprop engines and has no pressurized cabin .
history
After various studies, the N219 has been developed from the CASA C-212 Aviocar since around 2011 with the support of LAPAN , the country's national aerospace research institute. So far, around $ 60 million has been invested, and another 15 million will be needed for the flight test phase with two prototypes. The machine was rolled out in 2015 and the 30-minute first flight took place on August 16, 2017 at 9:10 a.m. from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung with PTDI chief test pilot Esther Gayatri Saleh and Adi Budi Atmoka as copilot.
With the N219, Indonesia wants to bring an independent, small feeder aircraft for 19 passengers or the corresponding freight onto the market, which is cheap to buy and operate and is suitable for flights to remote regions of the island state.
