The international airport Husein Sastranegara ( Indonesian Bandara Internasional Husein Sastranegara , IATA : BDO , ICAO : WICC ) is the airport of Bandung , the capital of the Jawa Barat province .
location
The airport is located approximately 5 km northwest of downtown Bandung and covers an area of 145 hectares . The civil aviation area is located in the southwestern part of the airport area and at the northern end are the hangars of the state aircraft industry PT. Dirgantara Indonesia . Since the airport area is close to the center, it can no longer be expanded economically. A new, larger airport outside of Bandung is therefore being planned.

Incidents
From 1946 to March 2020 there were at least 5 total write-downs of aircraft at Bandung Airport and in the vicinity. In four of them, 93 people were killed. Extracts:
- On July 17, 1997, a Fokker F-27-600 of the Indonesian Sempati Air Transport , rented by Trigana Air Service ( aircraft registration PK-YPM ), crashed on the flight to Jakarta near the starting airport of Bandung about 12 kilometers after take-off. 28 people died and 22 survived.
