Wings Abadi Airlines ( Wings Air for short ) is an Indonesian airline based in Jakarta and based at Soekarno-Hatta Airport . It is a subsidiary of Lion Air and serves short and regional routes within Indonesia.

history

Wings Air was founded in 2003 by Lion Air . With a fleet that exclusively includes turboprop aircraft , Wings Air currently only flies on national short-haul routes within Indonesia and serves 77 destinations on 102 routes. International charter flights that have been carried out in the meantime, for example from Manado to Davao in the Philippines , have been discontinued.

At the Singapore Air Show in February 2012, Lion Air ordered 20 ATR 72-500 and 40 ATR 72-600 for Wings Air . In November 2014, the Lion Group increased the ATR 72-600 order for Wings Air by 40 to a total of 100 aircraft of this type. This makes it Avions de Transport Régional's largest customer .

Wings Air was listed on a list of the European Union, according to which the airline was not allowed to fly in EU airspace due to safety deficiencies. In June 2018, the EU lifted all restrictions on Indonesian airlines.
