Indopendent

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indopendent ( spelling : InDOpendent ) was a free student newspaper that appeared from 1991 to 2008 at the University of Dortmund (today: Technical University of Dortmund). The campus newspaper was produced at the Institute for Journalism there and replaced by the magazine required reading in October 2008 .

According to the company, it was the first German campus newspaper to be indopendent, because it was "designed and implemented independently only for the campus by university management or student groups". The newspaper was initiated by the then academic employee at the Dortmund Institute for Journalism Bernd Blöbaum in the winter semester of 1990/91 as a practical media project. The project objective was the development and realization of a campus newspaper as a permanent and marketable product.

Indopendent was published for the first time in the summer semester of 1991 (first edition April 16, 1991) and has since been published every two weeks during the lecture period (but not during the semester break). The 213rd and final edition was published on July 1, 2008. From the winter semester 2008/09, the Dortmund campus newspaper was replaced by the magazine required reading , which now appears not only at the TU Dortmund, but also at the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Duisburg-Essen .
