As air pollution plants are called, which can also in a harsh environment, such as on a highway, thrive. The purpose of this categorization is to describe plants that can survive with little maintenance in urban societies and still give people a feeling of nature. An example are ornamental quinces , which are visible in early spring with colored flowers and impress with their yellow fruits in late autumn.

Further examples of industrial plants are plane trees or rock pears .

Industrial plants are not to be confused with industrial plants .
