The Donbass Industrial Union ( Russian Индустриальный союз Донбасса , ISD) is a Ukrainian industrial holding company based in Donetsk .
ISD is one of the largest companies in the country. Most of the subsidiaries it controls belong to the steel industry . The main owner of the holding is Serhiy Taruta .
Due to a blockade of the Luhansk - Popasna railway line by the war in eastern Ukraine , the Alchevsk steelworks had to cease operations in February 2017 because its only connection with the rest of Ukraine was interrupted.
