Infected was a Swiss thrash and death metal band from Zurich , which was founded in 1987 and disbanded in 1990.
history
The band was founded in September 1987 by bassist Theo Hilfiker and drummer Stefan "Steve" Karrer. Amos Germann joined the cast as singer, while Mark joined the band as guitarist. After the band had developed the first songs, two songs appeared on the Avalanche compilation . Then the band reached a contract with Far Out Records , about which the debut album Dark Century was released in the fall of 1989 . The recordings took place in the Magnetix Recording Studio in Wetzikon , with Fredy Tschui replacing guitarist Mark. After the first edition, limited to 1000 pieces, was sold out, another edition of 500 pieces was produced. The release was followed by appearances with bands such as Coroner and MDC before the group disbanded in 1990. Drummer Karrer joined the band Messiah in the fall of the same year .
style
The band played a dark and aggressive variant of Thrash Metal, which is described as a better produced and more technically sophisticated variant of Messiah with influences from Celtic Frost and a Death Metal chant reminiscent of Protector . In addition, the band is partly reminiscent of the early coroners, with the songs being variable in their tempo .
