Infinity (tabletop)
Infinity is a 28 mm tabletop game that has been produced and distributed by the Spanish company Corvus Belli since 2006 . The German version was published by Ulisses Spiele until 2017 . The game is skirmish-centered, so its main focus is on the clash of mostly two relatively small groups of individual miniatures, in contrast to squad-centered tabletop games such as Warhammer 40,000 . Infinity's illustrations and artwork show strong echoes in the manga / anime and cyberpunk sectors.

Infinity is set about 175 years in the future. With the help of wormholes, humanity has continued to expand in the galaxy and colonize planets. However, the rapid expansion came to a halt when it came into contact with a warlike alien species. Furthermore, the population of the earth is no longer organized nationally, but has split into six groups after the Aurora incident. In addition to these six factions, the seventh playable faction is the alien faction known as the United Army.
The organization O-12 also exists. This has taken over the function of the UN and resides on the planet Concilium. O-12 is divided into several departments that deal with trade, communication and the like. a. monitor and control. In addition, O-12 is responsible for the maintenance and control of the KI ALEPH, which has taken over many tasks of the former state governments and can constantly monitor everyone.
Factions
PanOceania
Panoceania, or PanO for short, developed gradually in the middle of the 21st century from the states of Oceania and India, which were later joined by parts of South America, Europe and North America. Religion has a high priority in PanO. The main religion here is Christianity. The predominance of Christianity is also evident in PanO troops such as the Swiss Guard or the Knights Hospitaller. PanO's culture consists of a conglomerate of western culture with strong links to the cultures of India, New Zealand and South America.
PanO is the most technologically advanced of the human groupings.
Yu Jing
Yu Jing developed from the states of East, North and Southeast Asia under the hegemony of China. In terms of culture, the diverging cultural currents of Asia were subsumed and integrated under the Chinese dominant culture. Yu Jing focuses on diplomacy and stealth tactics.
Yu Jing is the most technologically advanced human group after PanO.
Haqqislam
Haqqislam, also called the "New Islam", was founded by the philosopher Farhad Khadivar. Due to ever increasing conflicts with the remaining nations and the large groups that were establishing themselves, the Haqq Islamites emigrated to the desert planet Bourak. Culturally, Haqqislam incorporates the most diverse currents influenced by Islam, from the nomads and urban culture of northern Spain to the “typical” Arab culture of the Emirates to the Ottoman culture. The main focus of the Haqq Islamites lies in peaceful research, such as terraforming or pharmacy and medicine. Haqqislam primarily relies on large numbers of light infantry and infiltrating and supporting troops such as paramedics.
Technologically, Haqqislam is well advanced in the areas of peaceful technologies, but lags behind the other groupings in military technology.
Nomads
The group of nomads is made up of groups who, after the establishment of ALEPH, unsatisfied with the tutelage and surveillance, left planet earth. The nomads reside in three huge trading ships. These are Tunguska, Corregidor and Bakunin. In addition to the ships, there are numerous smaller branches in space. Culturally and religiously, the nomads combine aspects of Western and South American cultures as well as Christianity and Greco-Roman antiquity. The main focus of the nomads is on (partly illegal) trade and information technology.
The nomads are technologically advanced, but due to the small population usually set up small special troops.
Ariadna
The Ariadna faction emerged from various colony ships. These started from Earth through a wormhole to the star system "Dawn". After the wormhole collapsed, contact with earth was lost. As a result of internal struggles among the colonists and the autochthonous population of the planet, a separate group was established. Culturally, the Ariadnians combine Russian, Scottish and French as well as American influences. In addition, the Ariads still include hybrid troops that arose from the immigrant human and resident populations.
Ariadna is the least technologically advanced faction.
Mercenary and Sector Armies
In addition to the groupings listed above, there are also mercenary armies that combine different units of the various groups in one army.
There are also sector armies of the individual groups. These include troop types that are assigned to a specific planet or province. These sector armies therefore only contain certain types of troops associated with the province or planet.
United Army
The United Army consists of different races of aliens who fight under the rule of the EI (the developed intelligence). After first contact with the people, the United Army immediately began fighting and calling for reinforcements.
The United Army has developed physiology and technology.
ALEPH
The name ALEPH is used to name the unique, artificial intelligence that monitors, coordinates and protects the technical systems, networks and everyday life in the human-populated sphere. ALEPH, under the leadership of O12, is presented as the big bracket that serves the task of holding together the socio-political and economic system in which the individual human factions are integrated. ALEPH is strongly criticized by the Nomads faction, which decided to go into exile due to the establishment of the ALEPH-KI.
ALEPH uses genetically and biosynthetically produced and improved humanoids as well as high-tech combat robots.
Tohaa
The Tohaa are an advanced alien civilization currently waging open warfare against the United Army and its Combined Army. The guardians of one of the universe's great treasures, the Tohaa, have withstood the onslaught of the VA longer than any other race in this galaxy. The Tohaa are masters of biotechnology, able to build terrible viral weapons and impervious symbiotic armor, but also to modify other species and give them more intelligence so that they can fight by their side. The Tohaa need allies, and humanity seems fit for the first line of battle against the Combined Army.
Basic features of the game principle
Each miniature represents a certain type, such as hackers, light infantry, etc., on the field. Each miniature is assigned different values, such as ballistic skill or armor points. For these basic values, dice tests are carried out with a twenty-sided dice (D20). Most of the time, the value is rolled under the value, which, however, is modified in many situations.
