Green leaf (magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Green Sheet ( ZDB-ID : 1334547-3) was an information sheet of the Landsmannschaft Mecklenburg for its members, was published in Hamburg from 1959 to 1978 and is part of the refugee and expellee press.

The name Green Leaf did not appear in the title of the newsletter. The head of the magazine consisted of Landsmannschaft Mecklenburg. The coat of arms of the Mecklenburg ox head was emblazoned underneath. The individual issues were designated as circular or information sheet no. ... in a line of date. Within the editorial section, the magazine was exclusively and consistently called Green Leaf. In addition to the editors, publishers and readers, this name was also used by the Landsmannschaft when they spoke of their newsletter. The magazine was published in 20 years on pale green paper, which gave the paper its name.

As the publisher, the Green Leaf listed the Mecklenburg federal state team in the imprint. The printing and publishing were at Krüger & Nienstedt in Hamburg, a company owned by the publisher Richard Parbs. The imprint also contained the note: “The sales price is included in the membership fee.” Over the years, the publication changed several times between monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly. In 1978, the green leaf ceased its publication with the 20th year. As a continuation, the 21st year of 1979 saw the publication of the magazine “ Mecklenburg Heimatzeitschrift for compatriots and friends of Mecklenburg ” (ZDB-ID 1094769-3), also published by the Landsmannschaft .

The Landsmannschaft looked after the late returnee Dr. Rudolf Junack, "who was a citizen of Brandenburg, but felt connected to Mecklenburg". Junack designed the paper from No. 1/1959 (July) to No. 2/1969 (April / June). After Junack's death on September 11, 1969, the Landsmannschaft appointed Peter Heitmann (born in Neustrelitz , State Social Court Counselor in Lübeck ) as editor. He took over the paper with issue no. 3/1969 (October) and only gave up this function when the paper was discontinued in 1978.

Otto Witte described the editorial content of the paper as follows: “The official publication organ of the Landsmannschaft is the 'Green Paper' headed by compatriot Heitmann, which [...] reports comprehensively on major events of the Landsmannschaft and its local associations, as well as on basic statements of the Federal Board of the BMD [Bund der Mitteldeutsche] on important political decisions that affect our relationship with Central Germany. The 'Green Paper', which is sent to every member of the Landsmannschaft, also informs its readers about refugee law provisions. The reader of this magazine gains a comprehensive impression of the life and work in the Landsmannschaft. "
