Infrastructure data management for transport companies ( IDMVU for short ) refers to infrastructure data management for transport companies based on a standardized data model . The basis for this is the IDMVU data model with the IDM-GML exchange format.

The IDMVU data model is the result of research projects that were initiated and carried out by the then Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) since 2001. Partners in the project are the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) , the Gleisbau eV surveillance association, DB Netz AG and various transport, software and IT companies. An interface standard for data exchange in the areas of planning, construction, operation (maintenance) and disposal of infrastructure systems was developed, which was introduced as VDV Standard 456 . The specialist and coordination office IDMVU was set up for the maintenance and further development of the project .

With the use of the IDM-GML format based on the GML standard , companies no longer have to use their own interfaces for communication between software products used. Due to the possibility of combining different IT systems, z. B. needs-based maintenance can be carried out more easily.
