Ingeniero Guillermo Nicasio Juárez or Ingeniero Juárez for short is the capital of the Matacos department in the province of Formosa in northern Argentina . It is located 400 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa . In the classification of the municipalities of the province, it belongs to the municipalities ( Municipio ) of the 2nd category.

history

Originally the place was a Jesuit reduction of the Matacos . The establishment of the place under its current name took place in connection with the construction of the Formosa - Embarcación railway line . The construction of the line was the responsibility of the engineer Faure and his deputy Guillermo N. Juárez , after whom the place was named. The founding date of the place is July 21, 1930.

Economy and tourism

The timber industry and oil production are the pillars of the domestic economy. The number of employees fluctuates considerably because the oil production is very much based on temporary contracts.
