Inger K. Frith

Inger Kristine Frith (born January 23, 1909 , † 1981 ) was a Danish woman who served as an officer in Great Britain during World War II, and an archer . She was the first woman to become president of an international sports organization.

In 1953, Frith first became Vice-President of the Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc (FITA), the predecessor organization of the World Archery Federation , before becoming President of this organization from 1961 to 1977. During this period, she made sure that archery was approved again as an Olympic discipline in 1972 after a 50-year break .
