Ingluviotomy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Ingluviotomie ( latin ingluvies : Kropf, throat; Greek τομή, tome: average) refers to the surgical opening of the bolster in birds. The main indications are foreign bodies in the goiter, more rarely goiter stones or tumors . Smaller foreign bodies usually pass quickly through the goiter and come to rest in the glandular stomach . Here, too, an ingluviotomy may be indicated in larger birds in order to proceed endoscopically from the goiter to the stomach. The goiter is opened from the right side of the neck immediately in front of the breastbone.
