Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson

Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson is a Swedish scientist and professor who teaches and researches early childhood education at the University of Gothenburg . The trained educator held the first chair for early childhood education in Sweden in 1996. Her research focuses on the construction and creation of meaning in young children and in the training of early childhood teachers. Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson advises a. a. the Swedish Ministry of Education and the Swedish Education Agency and has received many awards. She is President of OMEP (Organization Mondiale pour l'Éducation Préscolaire) and holds a UNESCO Chair in Early Childhood Education and Sustainable Development at the University of Gothenburg. She received an honorary doctorate from the Finnish Åbo Akademi and the Swedish Fridtjuv Berg Award. Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson is considered to be the founder of the phenomenographic approach in early childhood and developmental education (together with Maj Asplund Carlsson).
