Ink Serialized Format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ink Serialized Format or ISF is a format from the Microsoft software group that is used to store information written with electronic ink .

The format is mainly used in mobile devices, such as personal digital assistants , tablets and ultra-mobile PCs, to store data entered with a stylus .

An ink object is a series of lines, where each line is a series of points, points in turn consist of X and Y coordinates. Many mobile devices can also provide information about pressure strength and angle. In addition, user-defined information can be saved in the object.

Availability

The specification is freely available for download. Microsoft has added the ISF format to the technologies available under the terms of the Open Specification Promise , making ISF-related claims valid for everyone so that anyone can use or implement ISF.

For this reason, the format can even be used together with open source licenses such as the GPL v2.
