Inker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inker ( job title derived from English ink " ink ") is a job title in the comic industry. An inker traces pencil templates with black ink or Indian ink , giving the templates their final shape.

The Inker uses ink pens or brushes for this . Once the ink has dried, the pencil drawings are removed with an eraser. Using certain drawing techniques, different shades of gray and spatial depth can also be simulated.

Depending on the type of comic, the draftsman (English: Penciller ) and the Indian ink draftsman (English: Inker ) are one and the same person or a division of labor is carried out, as is the case with most commercial comics. In this way, a comic can be produced much faster because the workers are better specialized in their sub-areas and can work in parallel with one another.
