Inclination of the spine as a sketch

The inclination (synonymous with ventral flexion ) is the leaning of the upper body or the spine and the head.

The opposite movement is called reclination or dorsiflexion . Other movements of the upper body are lateral flexion and rotation .

The inclination of the upper body occurs mainly in the lumbar spine. This is related to the position of the articular surfaces of the vertebral joints.
