Dorsiflexion

The term dorsiflexion (synonym: dorsiflexion ) stands for:

• the movement in the wrist towards the back of the hand (opposite: palmar flexion), see wrist #Proximal carpal joint
• the movement of the foot in the ankle towards the back of the foot (opposite: plantar flexion )
• the movement of the toes upwards (opposite: plantar flexion )

Backward flexion in the spine is correctly called reclination .
