Inkwell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inkwell (also called Ink for short ) is a handwriting recognition program that is fully integrated into Apple's Mac OS X text system . It was introduced with Mac OS X 10.2 . Inkwell supports the English, French and German languages. Inkwell was developed by Brandyn Webb, but is originally based on Rosetta , a technology that was present on Apple's Newton PDA .

Inkwell only works with a graphics tablet as an input device. If this graphics tablet is connected to the computer, all settings for operating Inkwell can be specified in the control panel . If Inkwell is activated, a semi-transparent, dynamically growing yellow note window appears, in which the user can write. When the input is complete, the recognized text is automatically inserted into the currently active program. If handwriting recognition is not activated, a hand-drawn sketch can, for example, be inserted into the active program.

At the beginning of 2008 the computer manufacturer Axiotron presented the tablet notebook ModBook . The ModBook is the first touchscreen notebook to use Inkwell.
