Inner mounting is a cinematic means of design, in which objects or persons in time and space in a single setting and without use of the section to be set with each other.

People or objects are staggered in the depth of the picture space and thus grouped either in the foreground or the background. By changing the focus area , the events or constellations of the various depths of the image space can correspond to one another. Orson Welles' film Citizen Kane is seen as a prime example of the use of internal montage thanks to the use of deep-focus photography .
