The Innisfallen Abbey is an abbey of Iroschottischen church that St. Finian the leper in the 7th century on the island Innisfallen Iceland in Lough Leane in County Kerry in Ireland founded. She survived Viking raids and built a reputation for scholarship over 700 years. It is believed that even the lake Lough Leane owes its name to the monastery, because the Irish word Loch Léin means "lake of learning".

The annals of Inisfallen were written here between 1215 and 1320 . Today these represent one of the most important documents of early Irish history .
