Innisfallen Island ( Irish Inis Faithlinn ) is an 8.7 hectare island that lies with several others in Lough Leane , a lake near Killarney in County Kerry in the Republic of Ireland .
The lake and island are part of Killarney National Park , the island being significant because of the ruins of Innisfallen Abbey .
The lake Lough Leane may owe its name to the monastery on Innisfallen, as the Irish name Loch Léin means "lake of learning".
