Innovator (potato)
The Innovator potato variety was the result of a cross between Shepody and RZ-84-2580 and has been on the Swiss list of varieties since 2002 . This variety belongs to the medium early to late varieties. The tubers have a long oval shape with flat eyes. The color of the pulp is light yellow and there are 7-10 tubers per shrub. Despite this rather small number, you can achieve a high yield with the Innovator variety because the tubers are extremely large. These are usually also used for the production of French fries . Innovator shows good resistance to both late blight and tuber rot . Innovator is immune to most typical potato diseases . It should be noted that some literature sources advise against the use of the herbicidal active ingredient metribuzin in both pre-emergence and post-emergence treatments.
