Input Director is a program for Microsoft Windows that enables the use of a mouse and keyboard on several PCs over a computer network.

function

The program allows the mouse of a host computer (“master”) to be moved on the screen of one or more slave computers connected via a network. The master's keyboard is active on the computer on which the mouse pointer is currently located. The effect is comparable to a computer to which several monitors are connected.

The spatial position of the computers is configured using application software that must be installed on each computer.

A system service is installed during the installation , which bypasses problems with programs that have been started with different user rights. In Windows Vista , this allows you to control the User Account Control (UAC) dialog box .

Other properties

If data is copied to the clipboard on one of the connected computers , it can be pasted onto any other computer ("clipboard sharing"). The program supports most common formats and also allows files to be copied.

Alternatives

The programs Synergy (platform-independent) as well as ShareMouse (Mac and Windows) and Multiplicity on Windows and ScreenRecycler and Teleport on Mac OS X provide a similar function . MaxiVista and ScreenRecycler can use the screen of another computer as an additional monitor.
