Inscription from Başbulak
The Urartian inscription of Başbulak , 5 km from Taşburun (Tsolakert), lies on the northern slope of Mount Ararat . It was discovered in the ruins of a Urartian fortress. It was published by NV Nikolskij in 1893.
The inscription tells of a building that was dedicated to the god Ḫaldi : “ d Ḫaldi, the mighty, Menua , son of Išpuini , built this majestic house, he built this fortress (É.GAL), (it was) built majestically, set up in the name of Menua. ”The following line names the titles of the ruler:“ For d Ḫaldi, the mighty - Menua, son of Išpuini, lord of the whole, king of the land of Biainili , ruler of the city of Tušpa . ”
Harutjunjan assumes that the building was a tower temple ( susi ).
