Išpuini

Išpuini (or Ishpuinis) was a Urartian king. He succeeded his father Sarduri I to the throne and ruled 828 to 810 BC. Chr. Išpuini called himself among other things King of the Land Nairi , Glorious King and King of the Universe .

Išpuini conquered Musaṣir , which he made the religious center of his empire. Išpuini made the god of war Haldi an imperial god. Išpuini fought against the Assyrians under Šamši-Adad V. Towards the end of the reign of Išpuini, campaigns to the southern and western parts of Lake Urmia take place. Išpuini and Menua fought against m Uiṭeruḫi, m Luša and m Katarza in the Araxes Valley, as well as the kings of Etiuḫi . It is commonly believed that Išpuini or his son Menua around 810 BC. BC Hasanlu conquered in Mannai.

His son Menua succeeded Išpuini on the throne.

Inscriptions

  • On the Kel-i-Schin stele, Išpuini reports that he has expanded his empire to the south.
  • An inscription by Išpuini comes from Toprakkale near Eleşkirt at the western end of the Ağrı plain . She reports on his campaigns in the north. He then went to the field against Uiṭeruḫi, Luša and Katarza and the land of Etiuḫi . These are usually located north of the Ararat.

  • Kasim Oğlu Church
  • Elmalik (Zvastan / Zivistan), southwest of Van: Išpuini, son of Sarduri built this house

  • Toprakkale , Van, Castle Rock
  • Giyimili near Gürpinar southeast of the city of Van, now in the Adana Museum
