This is the episode listing of the British crime series Inspector Banks (original title: DCI Banks ), which was produced by Left Bank Pictures from 2010 to 2016 and aired on ITV . The first broadcast in the United Kingdom began on September 27, 2010. The 32nd and final episode ran on October 5, 2016. In Germany, the first broadcast began with the pilot episode on November 2, 2012 on arte . The first broadcasts of the seasons took place on various television channels. The first season was first shown on ZDFneo from May 20, 2013 . In the second season, ZDF was the first broadcast station. Season three then ran again on arte and season four on ZDFneo. Season five finally ran on ZDF.

While in the original version a book adaptation was split into two episodes with a length of 45 minutes, it was broadcast in German-speaking countries as a double episode with a feature length of around 90 minutes.

Patrolmen Janet Taylor and Dennis Morrisey are called to a family fight with the Paynes. When they arrive at the house, they find their wife Lucy Payne seriously injured in the hallway. During the search of the house, they are attacked in the basement by husband Marcus Payne with a machete and Morrisey is killed. Taylor manages to overpower Payne, who falls into a coma after being hit with the baton. The Banks team finds the bodies of four young girls in the basement and assumes that there is a wanted serial killer, but a fifth girl is still missing. Payne cannot be questioned, however, and the doctor treating him reports Taylor for police brutality. DS Annie Cabbot is conducting the internal investigation into this complaint. Meanwhile, Banks begins an investigation, with the suspect's wife coming into focus. However, she pretends to have known nothing of her husband's actions.

Suspect Marcus Payne dies in hospital from serious injuries. In the course of the investigation, it turns out that Payne must have had an accomplice. Banks suspects Lucy Payne, who accuses her neighbor of having an affair with her husband. The investigators try everything to solve the case and to find the missing fifth girl.

The antiquarian Leslie Whitaker is killed in a deliberate fire on his boat. When investigating the crime scene, investigators find a painting by William Turner and cash. DS Annie Cabbot consults art expert Mark Keane and it turns out that the picture is a fake. A little later, the murder of Christina Aspern on the neighboring boat raises further puzzles, because the investigators cannot see any connection between Whitaker and Aspern.

More murders happen and Banks' team believes they have tracked down an art forgery ring. The focus of the investigation is now Garry Morrison, who the investigators assume is the head of the art forgers. Cabbot, who has started an affair with Mark Keane, is in danger over his connection with Morrison while Banks' investigation into Dr. Aspern, the father of the murdered, concentrate.

In Eastvale, the young woman Haley Daniels is raped and murdered; suspect is the shopkeeper Timothy Randall. While Banks is investigating, Cabbot receives her first own case: Karen Drew was killed in an accident and disfigured beyond recognition. There is a connection with the murder of Lucy Payne.

DS Kevin Templeton tries to solve the rape of Haley Daniels on his own, and is murdered in the process. The father of the first victim is suspected. Meanwhile, Cabbot searches for a connection between the murders, which she finds in a case years ago.

DS Cabbot investigates a robbery of Tony Grimes' delivery truck. The suspect is quickly identified with Charlie McKay, but when Cabbot and Jackman try to interrogate him, they find him murdered. Banks, on the other hand, is asked by his superior CS Gerry Rydell and his wife to look for their runaway daughter Emily in London and bring her back. Banks finds her in the company of gangster Barry Clough and manages to get her to return home. But shortly thereafter Emily disappeared again.

Emily was murdered. Banks finds a connection with her roommate Ruth when it is revealed that she was Emily's sister. Ruth was put up for adoption as a child, but Emily knew nothing about it. Meanwhile, Tony Grimes, suspected of McKay's murder, has been released and leads investigators to the real perpetrators. There is a connection between the two cases in such a way that CS Gerry Rydell had been disclosing official secrets to Barry Clough for years, including McKay's whereabouts.

Banks receives a phone call for help from his brother Roy, who is obviously in trouble. Meanwhile, the Banks team finds the body of Jennifer Lewis, which was apparently on its way to Banks. The investigation takes over DI Helen Morton, who has just started as a substitute for the pregnant Annie Cabbot. Banks discovers that his brother and his business partner have been involved in shady deals. DI Morton and Banks clash when Morton tries to interrogate him as a suspect over his suspected connection to Jennifer Lewis. Then Roy Banks is found dead.

After his brother dies, DI Morton is persuaded to accept Banks as an investigator again. Banks finds out that Roy is said to have had an affair with Carmen and lures her into a hotel room. But the pregnant woman escapes and is kidnapped in front of the police. Finally, in a private clinic, the investigators find the key to the case, which leads them to Roy Banks' business partner.

The tax advisor Keith Rothwell is murdered. After a public search, Pamela Jeffries reports, who had a love affair with the deceased, but knew him by a different name. The case seems to have parallels to investigations by a special police commission against the House of Commons Martin Fleming. The investigators quickly suspect that it must have been contract killing. Banks questions Fleming and therefore comes under fire. A little later, Pamela Jeffries was attacked in her apartment and seriously injured.

Pamela Jeffries can describe the perpetrator who ambushed her. Meanwhile, DI Morton and DS Blackstone find out the name of the hit man who attacked Jeffries. When trying to arrest him, he escapes. The police manage to track him down at a reservoir and to put him in the dam wall. Meanwhile, Banks finds out that Rothwell is still alive and that someone else was killed in his place.

16-year-old Ellie Clayton, daughter of a successful entrepreneur, is found murdered. When Jackman and Blackstone interrogate Owen Pierce, the drama teacher of the murdered, they notice similarities with the clothes of a suspect who a neighbor saw near the crime scene. Pierce, who lives alone, cannot name an alibi witness for the time of the crime and becomes entangled in contradictions, so that he is declared the main suspect. After three months of investigative work, he is charged with murder, although Pierce denies all allegations. Because of a formal error, crucial pieces of evidence will not be admitted to court and the judge will drop the charges.

The Inspector Banks department is reopening the investigation. Becca, a friend of the murdered, leads investigators on the trail of Ellie's boyfriend Tyler Judd. He also denies all allegations. Then Becca is murdered. While investigating the crime scene, Banks finds the memory card of a camera with pictures of Ellie on it. Obviously she was stalked . In one of the photos you can find a reflection of the photographer, who is Simon Harris, Ellie's father's business partner. He eventually confesses to both murders.
