Jim Loach
Jim Loach (born June 6, 1969 in London ) is a British film and television director .
Life
Jim Loach grew up in Bath . He graduated from University College London with a degree in philosophy . Then he worked for the BBC , u. a. for Sue Lawley and her talk show and the television presenter Anne Robinson . He produced three films for the documentary series World in Action and has directed several episodes of the soap opera Coronation Street radio station ITV .
His debut film was the drama Oranges and Sunshine (2010) based on a screenplay by Rona Munro with Emily Watson , Hugo Weaving and David Wenham in the lead roles. The film is about a scandal in the city of Nottingham : In the 1980s, social worker Margaret Humphreys (Emily Watson) revealed that between 1947 and 1967 about ten thousand children, the youngest of them only three years old, were sent to Australia allegedly because the parents were unable to provide for the children. The children ended up in homes, many were exploited as cheap labor or abused. The film has won several awards and received seven nominations for the AACTA Award in 2012 . In 2018 he made his second feature film, Measure of a Man , based on the coming-of-age novel by US sports journalist Robert Lipsyte.
In Germany he is best known as the director of series such as Hollyoaks , Hotel Babylon , Inspector Banks , Der Junge Inspektor Morse and Victoria .

Jim Loach is the fourth of five children of the director Ken Loach and the brother of the film producer Emma Loach.
