David Wenham
David Wenham (born September 21, 1965 in Marrickville , Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian actor .
Life
David Wenham is the youngest child of Kath and Bill Wenham. He has six siblings, one brother and five sisters. Wenham was raised in the Roman Catholic faith and attended the Christian Brothers High School in Lewisham. Before starting his acting career, he worked as a bingo caller and clerk in an insurance company. His life partner has been the actress Kate Agnew since 1994 , with whom he has two daughters.

Over the course of his career, Wenham not only starred in television series , but also made a name for himself, for example, as a co-producer and lead actor in the social drama The Boys and was nominated for his role as Brett Sprague by the Australian Film Institute as Best Actor of 1997. The stage version of The Boys was also a success with him as the main character. The theater has played an essential role in his career so far, and he has appeared on various stages in Australia. He was nominated for the title "sexiest man alive" in an annual poll by Australian People's Magazine. In 2004 he had a role in the horror film Van Helsing . In the 2005 AFI award-winning film The Proposition , he starred alongside Guy Pearce and Emily Watson, among others . In 2007 he was seen in the role of Dilios in 300 . He also played the role of the devious Neil Fletcher in Australia in 2008, alongside Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman . In the film adaptation of the novel Die Päpstin by director Sönke Wortmann in 2009, Wenham embodied the male leading role of Margrave Gerold alongside Johanna Wokalek as Popess. In 2014 he again played the role of Dilios in the film 300: Rise of an Empire .
