action

Dr. Richard Shorkinghorn and Kate Haslett, both competing scientists and former lovers, are researching how to stop aging in chickens. Now they are looking for research funding to expand research to include humans.

Grace Michael and her husband Godfrey Usher, Chancellor of the Exchequer of Australia, invite Richard and Kate to their country house for the weekend, as they are very interested in this scientific work. Grace's grandfather was an award-winning scientist himself. Grace and Godfrey are extremely eccentric, very fond of alcohol and make a very crazy impression. On a boozy night, Godfrey tells Richard that he really has no clue about economics, and Grace hands him her grandfather's diary. After a party the next day, Richard and Kate discover a completely bloodied bathroom in which Sue Harrington, a mutual colleague, allegedly killed herself. Both will be sexually harassed by their respective spouse in the future. They find out that Grace's grandfather was devoted to Satanism. This also applies to their hosts. For fear of aging, Grace and Godfrey want to include them in their circle and encourage them unconditionally.

Three years later, Richard and Kate are married. They accepted the proposal made by Grace and Godfrey, who are now Prime Ministers of Australia. Furthermore, they have achieved the breakthrough in their research, but are fed up with Grace and Godfrey's control and handing them nothing. To get to the formula, the crazy couple Richard and Kate want to kill in a satanic ceremony. However, both can flee and in future will supply selected people in their own pharmacy with tablets that will slow down the aging process.

criticism

“A dialogue-driven comedy with satirical swipes against man's addiction to the big man, his fears of existence and his striving for knowledge and redemption. Quite appealing in its approach, the film gets lost in the multitude of its formal approaches and thematic references until it only causes an idle. "

“Australian Peter Duncan deals with a Faustian theme in his evil low-budget comedy, in which" Shine "star Geoffrey Rush is diabolical and power-hungry. Author, producer and director Duncan is not lacking in dialog humor and original ideas, but he cannot decide in tone between pointed, political satire and the grotesque. "
