Coordinates: 33 ° 54 ' S , 151 ° 9' O Marrickville Council was a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Marrickville was part of the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area was 17 km² and had about 76,500 inhabitants. In 2016 the Inner West Council got it on.
Marrickville was in the middle of the Inner City of Sydney and bordered the city center to the northeast. The area included 15 boroughs: Dulwich Hill, Enmore, Lewisham, Marrickville, Marrickville South, Petersham, Stanmore, Sydenham, Tempe and parts of Camperdown, Canterbury, Hurlstone Park, Newtown, St Peters and Westgate. The administrative headquarters of the council was in the Petersham district in the north of the LGA.

The Marrickville Council had twelve members elected by the residents of the four wards (three each from North, South, West and Central Ward). These four districts were determined independently of the districts. The mayor of the council was also recruited from among the councilors.
