action
In a control center in the Mojave Desert , it is found that the US military spy satellite SE2020 is showing a defect and deviating values. During his onward flight, colleagues in Canberra are informed who discover a course deviation while flying over Queensland . The deviation from the specified course triggers the automatic self-destruction and parts of the satellite crash in the north of Queensland. These include the so-called black box, which contains the collected image data on a hard drive and a location device. The black box is swallowed by a saltwater crocodile on the ground .
At the CIA headquarters in Langley , Vice Director Reynolds sends two undercover agents, Wheeler and Archer, to Australia to find the black box. To ensure secrecy, the two should pretend to be in search of mineral resources.
In the National Reconnaissance Office responsible for the military satellite program , its deputy director Ansell feels that Reynolds has ignored the actions of the CIA department and has been deprived of his chance for the director's post. The Australian Jo Buckley is supposed to pretend to be the Australian contact person for the two and bring the black box back to the USA for her department.
Farmer Brozzie Drewitt is out to kill a crocodile that is in a river near her farmland as she fears for her cattle. The ranger Sam Flynn from the Office for Nature Conservation visits her to make it clear to her that the crocodiles are under species protection and that killing the animals is prohibited. Since it does not seem reasonable, he hires an expert in the capture and relocation of crocodiles: Steve Irwin, who has been seen in the meantime as he has come across a giant monitor and an inland taipan . A Goliath tarantula , a pseudechis australis and a kangaroo -Baby, whose mother was run over on a road, taking with him also to make it into the Australia Zoo to spend. Irwin finally succeeds in catching the crocodile together with his wife Terri, but he does not know that his caught crocodile had previously eaten the black box. When the CIA agents find Irwin and pursue him, he thinks they are poachers who are only after the crocodile.
The CIA now believes in a conspiracy and believes that Irwin and his wife are a hostile pair of agents. After Reynolds learns that his agents were unsuccessful in obtaining the black box, he calls in the Department of Defense , which sends soldiers to take the black box from Irwin.

Reviews
“The film is entertaining ... you see a bunch of personable people traveling through the Australian hinterland and getting uncomfortably close to dangerous animals while they teach us about their habits and dangers and are almost killed by them. The stunts are not faked, so there is a certain fascination. "
"As sympathetic as the main actor Steve Irwin's enthusiasm for the animals he is showing may be, his trip to the big screen has absolutely no cinematic qualities."
Awards
The film won a Young Artist Award 2003 in the category Best Family Feature Film - Comedy .
