HomeKit

HomeKit is a software framework from Apple that allows users to set up their iPhone or other Apple device to configure, communicate with, and control smart home devices.

By designing rooms, objects and actions in the HomeKit app, users can activate automatic actions in the house with a simple voice command to Siri or via apps .

HomeKit was first released with iOS 8 in September 2014. HomeKit support is available in macOS from version  Mojave .

Manufacturers of HomeKit-enabled devices were required to participate in an MFi program, and all HomeKit products were required to have an encryption coprocessor. Devices manufactured without HomeKit support can be accessed through a " gateway " product such as B. a hub that establishes the connection between these devices and the HomeKit service can be activated.
