Süper Lig 2017/18

The Süper Lig 2018/19 (officially: Spor Toto Süper Lig Lefter Küçükandonyadis Sezonu ) was the 61st season of the highest Turkish league in men's football . It began on August 10, 2018 with the defending champion Galatasaray Istanbul's away game against newly promoted MKE Ankaragücü and ended on May 26, 2019.

In memory of Lefter Küçükandonyadis , the Turkish Football Association decided on July 4, 2018 to name the 2018/19 season based on the Turkish striker legend Spor Toto Süper Lig Lefter Küçükandonyadis Sezonu .

Newcomer Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor became the 71st participant since the founding of the Süper Lig. Defending champion Galatasaray Istanbul became champions for the 22nd time with a win on the penultimate match day.

Attendees

For the 2018/19 season, the 15 clubs remaining from the previous season were joined by the three promoted teams from the last second division season . As a second division champion, Çaykur Rizespor rose to the top and thus managed to return directly to the Süper Lig. As a runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig, MKE Ankaragücü also made the promotion, which with this success returned to the 1st division after six years. The third and final climber was the playoff winner BB Erzurumspor . BB Erzurumspor was the 71st participant since the founding of the Süper Lig.

    useful information

    General

    • With the start of the season, video evidence was introduced as additional support for referees during the game. Starting this season, a direct connection will be established between the main referee on the field and a video assistant. Not all controversial scenes are evaluated by the video assistant, but only those that involve possible goals, red cards (but not yellow-red cards ), penalties or mix-ups.
