Kemal Özdeş (born March 10, 1970 in Manisa ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.
Player career
Little is known about Özdeş's footballing career. He played mostly in various clubs in the regional amateur league in his home province of Manisa . At the end of his career he played about a season and a half for Manisa Mensucatspor .
Coaching career
After his football career, Özdeş decided to work as a coach from now on. His first job was in the 1995/96 season at the second division Bergamaspor and assisted the head coach Tevfik Lav . Özdeş then worked as an assistant trainer until the summer of 2009 and assisted almost exclusively the three trainers Lav, Mesut Bakkal and Ersun Yanal . He forms a group of friends with all three trainers, which is why he preferred to work with these trainers. After Yanal was appointed sports director of the Turkish national football team in 2010 , he appointed Özdeş as the coach of the Turkish U-19 national team . In this role, Özdeş and his team qualified for the 2011 U-19 European Football Championship . In this tournament, however, his team was eliminated in the group stage. In addition to his work for the Turkish U-19, Özdeş also worked as an assistant coach for the Turkish U-21 national team .
After the U-19 European Championship in 2011, he resigned from his position and took over the first division club Manisaspor and inherited the resigned coach Hikmet Karaman . After a good start to the season, he and his team slipped into the lower part of the table at the start of the second half of the season and then resigned from his position.
For the 2013/14 season Özdeş took over Manisaspor for the second time and inherited the resigned trainer Reha Erginer at the second division club . With this club he finished the season in 7th place in the table and thus missed the hoped-for promotion to the Süper Lig .
At the end of May 2014 Özdeş signed a two-year contract with first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . On July 10, 2014, his club announced that they had separated from Özdeş and replaced him with Mustafa Kaplan .
On December 4, 2014, Kemal Özdeş was head coach at Balıkesirspor . After he was unable to make the turnaround he had hoped for at the club, which was in danger of relegation, he announced his resignation at the end of April 2015.
In mid-September 2016, Özdeş became head coach of the first division club Kasımpaşa Istanbul .
After he left the club in October 2018 despite successful cooperation after several withdrawn layoffs or layoffs and he had coached league rival Göztepe Izmir for two months in the first half of 2019 , he was hired again as head coach at Kasımpaşa in July 2019.
successes
As a trainer
- With the Turkish U-19 national team
- Participation in the U-19 European Football Championship : 2011
tactics
Özdeş prefers to play in the 4-5-1 system, with opposing ball possession the defenders are low, while the midfielders use pressing. When conquering the ball, switching should be done quickly, while Özdeş relies on fast wingers, who often pull into the opponent's penalty area when attacking in order to form a majority. The striker often acts as the "wrong nine", dropping in order to evade the guard of the defending players.
