Berna Carrasco

Berna Carrasco Araya (born December 19, 1914 in San Bernardo ; † July 7, 2013 ) was a Chilean chess player .

Carrasco reached third place in the women's chess world championship in 1939 behind world champions Vera Menchik and Sonja Graf . She held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM).

She was the only female participant in the 1966 Havana Chess Olympiad . Her team Chile reached the 38th place overall and the tenth of fourteen places in the final group C. They achieved zero points from four games on the first reserve board.
