Mustafa Kapı (born August 8, 2002 in Denizli ) is a Turkish football player . Most recently, Kapı was under contract with Galatasaray Istanbul .
Career
society
Kapı began his club career in 2013 in the youth department of Denizlispor , the most famous club in his hometown. Here he was spotted by the talent scouts of the traditional Istanbul club Galatasaray Istanbul and brought into the youth of this club at the age of twelve. He was observed very early by the head coaches of the professional team and, in addition to his activities in the youth teams, was involved in the training of professionals and was part of the extended squad in some games. He was substituted on in a friendly against Levski Sofia at the age of 14 , making him the youngest player to have played for Galatasaray in a professional game.
In the 2018/19 season he was tied more closely to the professional squad by head coach Fatih Terim and other young players, as the club had to start the season with a limited squad due to violations of the financial fair play guidelines. Since several regular players were also absent due to injuries during the season, the young players were used more often. Kapı made his Süper Lig debut in the home game against Sivasspor on December 23, 2018 . He replaced Servet Gökçen as the youngest player in the club's history, who had been used in a first division game until then. Head coach Fatih Terim came on for Sofiane Feghouli in the 94th minute. It was also noticeable that Ozan Kabak , another player from his own youth, shot the ball out of the way to enable Kapı to come on before the end of the game.
In February 2020 he was removed from the professional squad of Galatasaray Istanbul after he turned down possible offers from the club regarding a provisional contract extension. The club announced shortly after that Kapı had been temporarily suspended.
National team
Kapı began his international career in January 2015 with a deployment for the Turkish U-14 national team . With the Turkish U-16 national team he took part in the Aegean Cup and was second in the tournament.
