Christian Andreas Schleisner (born November 2, 1810 in Kongens Lyngby , † July 13, 1882 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish painter .

Life

Schleisner was the son of the textile manufacturer Gottlieb Gabriel Schleisner († 1870) and Christiane, geb. Greener. His younger brother was the physician Peter Anton Schleisner .

Schleisner spent 12 years at the art academy with Christian Albrecht Jensen and Johann Ludwig Lund . In 1841 he went to Munich to study for two years on a state scholarship . In 1842 he married the daughter Julie Jacobine of the furniture dealer Jens Bastrup. In 1858 he was appointed professor at the Copenhagen Academy. In 1880 he became a knight of the Dannebrog Order . He was buried on Holmens Kirkegård in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen .

Two of his best works, Scene i Brokkens Bod (1847) and Kobbersmeddens Værksted (1859) were acquired by the National Gallery. He portrayed the anatomist Ib Pedersen Ibsen (1801–1862), the theater painter Christian Ferdinand Christensen (1805–1883), the lawyer Jacob Just Gudenrath (1758–1825), the pastor Andreas Christian Pontoppidan (1812–1892) and the Danish patriot Hans Andersen Kruger (1816-1881).
