Domagoj Vida (born April 29, 1989 in Osijek , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player . He has been under contract with Beşiktaş Istanbul since January 2018 .

Career

In the club

Domagoj Vida played at the age of 15 in his hometown for NK Osijek and went through all youth departments there. From 2006 to 2010 he played for NK Osijek in the Croatian first division . For the 2010/11 season he moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen . During the season he played eight times in the Europa League , in the Bundesliga he played once on March 5, 2011 in the game against VfL Wolfsburg . In the summer of 2011, Vida moved to Croatia to Dinamo Zagreb . For the second half of 2012/13 he joined the Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev . He signed a contract that ran until the end of June 2018.

On January 3, 2018, Vida went to the Turkish Süper Lig to Beşiktaş Istanbul . He received a contract that ran until June 30, 2022.

National team

In 2010 Vida moved up from the U21 to the squad of the Croatian national team . He was nominated for the EM 2012 and came to an employment. He was also nominated for the 2014 World Cup , but remained without commitment.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Croatian squad . In the opening game against Turkey he played for the first time in a major country tournament and was in the starting line-up as well as in the second game against the Czech Republic. In the last group game against Spain four other regular players were spared in addition to him, in the round of 16 he was back on the starting line-up. There Portugal won in extra time and Croatia was eliminated.

At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, he was runner-up with the national team.
