Adem Ljajić (born September 29, 1991 in Novi Pazar , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian football player . He is under contract with Beşiktaş Istanbul and plays for the Serbian national team . His preferred position is the left midfield.

Life

Ljajić is an ethnic Bosniak and a practicing Muslim . He has been in a relationship with Belgrade model Sofija Milošević for several years .

Career

At the age of 14, Ljajić moved to Partizan Belgrade . There he went through the youth teams of the club. At the age of 17 he was a regular at Partizan and played two games in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and three games in the 2008/09 UEFA Cup . He scored his first goal on November 23, 2008 during the league game against OFK Belgrade . In his first season as a professional in 2008, he won the championship and cup double. This was followed by winning the championship in 2009 and another double in 2010.

In October 2008 he completed a trial training with the English champions Manchester United . On January 2, 2009, he signed a contract with this club. The then 17-year-old Ljajić did not change immediately, but played for Partizan until the end of the year. Manchester then waived the purchase option for Ljajić in winter 2010 because he was not granted a work permit.

On January 13, 2010, Ljajić signed a four-year contract with Fiorentina . The transfer fee was around eight million euros. Ljajić made his debut for his new club on September 31, 2010 in the game against Cagliari, where he came on in the 82nd minute for Manuel Pasqual . Under coach Cesare Prandelli he was hardly used in the first half of the season. However, this changed with the arrival of his compatriot Siniša Mihajlović as the club's new coach. Under Mihajlović he eventually developed into a regular player. Ljajić scored his first goal for Florence on September 18, 2010 from the penalty spot against Lazio Rome, but Florence lost the game 2-1.

On August 29, 2013 AS Roma announced Ljajić's commitment for 11 million euros. From Roma, Ljajić moved to Inter Milan on August 31, 2015 . The Milanese were also given the option to sign the Serbs permanently. Although Adem Ljajić became a key player at Inter, Inter Milan did not pull the purchase option for him. Ljajić really wanted to leave AS Roma, so there was brief speculation that Ljajić will move to Juventus Turin or Betis Sevilla . On July 19, 2016 AS Roma announced that Ljajić would be transferring to Torino for a transfer fee of 8.5 million euros .

On August 31, 2018, Ljajić was signed by the Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul .

Controversy

On May 2, 2012 Ljajić was substituted in the league game against Novara Calcio in the 32nd minute by coach Delio Rossi . Ljajić provoked Rossi after his substitution with applause, whereupon Rossi Ljajić dealt a punch. Rossi was fired as a coach that same evening.

In May 2012, Ljajić was dismissed from the Serbian national team by national coach Siniša Mihajlović after he did not sing the Serbian national anthem Bože Pravde for “personal reasons” during the friendly against Spain , although he had previously signed a code of conduct like all the other players, including the Includes singing the national anthem.

Under the new national coach Ljubinko Drulović , he was recalled in the first game under his leadership for the squad. During a subsequent interview, Ljajić said that he owed a lot to Mihajlović and that they were on good terms with one another, thus ending speculation. It is also an honor to be part of the national team again and he will prove that he deserves the shirt of Serbia. It was difficult for him not to be part of the squad, he was their biggest fan during the World Cup qualifying, according to Ljajić. On March 5, 2014, he finally came on during a 2-1 away win against Ireland in the 81st minute for Dušan Tadić and thus completed his eighth international match. In 2018 he took part in the World Cup with Serbia . Here he was used in all three preliminary round games, but retired with Serbia after the preliminary round.
