TAV Airports Holding ( TAV Havalimanlari Holding A.Ş. ), headquartered in Istanbul is a listed Turkish airport operator , originally as Tepe Akfen Ventures (TAV) as a joint venture of Tepe Construction (Tepe İnşaat Sanayi AS) and Akfen Construction (Akfen İnşaat Turizm ve Ticaret AS) for the construction of Istanbul Ataturk Airport . In 2010 a total of 10 airports were operated in Turkey, Tunisia, Georgia and Macedonia with a total passenger volume of 47.6 million.

history

In 1997, the two construction groups Tepe Construction and Akfen Construction were awarded the contract to expand and modernize Istanbul Ataturk Airport and founded the company as a joint venture for this purpose. After completion of the airport, the construction division was spun off into TAV Construction in 2003 by a spin-off . TAV Airports Holding has been listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange since 2007; the two original founders, Tepe and Akfen, were initially still the main shareholders of the company with 26% each; Sera Construction, a construction company, held another 4% of the capital.

On March 12, 2012 it was announced that the French airport operator ADP had acquired a total of 38% of the company for US $ 874 million (with a valuation of the company of US $ 2.3 billion); at the same time ADP takes over 49% of TAV Construction . The previous majority shareholders (Tepe, Akfen and Sera) will retain a total of 18% in TAV Airports and 51% in TAV Construction.

Airports

In March 2009, TAV Airport Holdings was awarded the contract to operate Riga Airport in Latvia . Around 250 million euros are to be invested in the modernization and expansion of Riga Airport.

TAV operates through subsidiaries a number of airport-related services such as duty-free -Sales, catering , ground handling ( ground handling ) , IT and security. Important participations include a .:

  • BTA Catering: BTA Catering was founded in mid-1999 as a joint venture between Bilintur and Tepe and Akfen for catering at Istanbul-Ataturk Airport .
  • Havaş: Havaalanları Yer Hizmetleri A.Ş (Havaş) takes over the ground handling at airports. In July 2005, TAV Airport Holding took over a 60 percent stake in Havaş; 40 percent are held by Swissport .
